Lovely Bright Cut Antique English Sterling Silver Salt Cellar
Fully Hallmarked
Part of a spectacular Antique and Vintage Sterling Silver hollow ware and flatware collection & offered for purchase is this beautiful sterling silver individual footed salt cellar (open salt) manufactured in Birmingham, England more than 100 years ago. This elegant Victorian serving piece measures 1-3/4” long by ¾” tall and weighs .34 troy ounces. It is crafted with fabulous bright-cut edging and three tiny ball feet. As shown in the photo below, this Victorian salt cellar is fully hallmarked with the Anchor (for Birmingham), the lion passant (for English sterling), what appears to us to be the date stamp “r” (for the years 1891 -1892) and the maker’s mark “T.H.” which we believe is the mark for the Birmingham silversmith T. Hayes. This stunning piece of antique silver is in great condition with no signs of repair or corrosion.
