The drawing is not signed, but on the back, there is a round stamp indicating that it comes from a collection of A. A. Sidorov, one of the most famous book and graphics arts collector in the Soviet Union who donated the bulk of his collection to the State Tretyakov Gallery in mid-1970's.

Vladimir Kozlinsky (1891 - 1967) was a well-known Soviet graphic artist and illustrator. A close friend of Vladimir Mayakovsky, Kozlinsky illustrated several of his books and collaborated with him on a famous "ROST Windows" visual propaganda project. As a master of satirical drawing, Kozlinsky worked for several satirical and illustrated magazines during 1920's where his sharp commentary on every-day life was extremely popular. The auctioned drawing was most likely made as an illustration for one of the magazines.
