PROVENANCE:   These commercial art assignments were the creation of WILLIAM BOS (1887-1965).  William was of Dutch extraction having come with his parents, Botje & Anna Bos, and brother, George, to this country from the Netherlands in 1896.  During the 1900 U.S. Census, the family was shown living at 420 Drexel Place, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  William was a student at the School of Applied Art in Battle Creek, Michigan, around 1912-13.  He pursued a career in Commercial Art and was also a Book Binder.  William died on 29 January 1965, in Grand Rapids, MI, where he had relocated with his wife and four sons in the 1930's.  These art school assignments were found among his possessions.
