Intricately detailed pencil sketch drawing attributed to the legendary French Printmaker Eugéne Stanislas Alexandre Bléry (1805 - 1887). Annotations as above in the artist's hand. No signature. 8.25 inches x 10.5 inches overall.

This drawing is one of a selection from a collection of his drawings and sketches found in a sketchbook with larger signed and dated works. The smaller works are unsigned, with place annotations in pencil in the artist's hand, and that is why they are ATTRIBUTED to Blery; the larger works from the sketchbook are both signed and dated by him, and also have place annotations in pencil in the artist's hand. The works are original preparatory drawings, sketches and renderings for the artist's famous engraving compositions. All the works are genuine period works hand drawn with rare consummate skill, not reproductions, not recent copies, not prints, not fakes. All are in good or better condition, are accurately represented as to their condition in their detailed photos. Signs of age and usage, including but not limited to browning and toning of the paper, some are mounted onto cardboard, some have wear to the edges of the paper, pencil annotations by the artist, occasional thumbtack holes in the corners of the paper, occasional folds and / or small holes around the edges of the paper, small folds at the edges and corners, numerical reference script annotations in pencil on the versos, some have tears at the margins, all are in the condition shown in their detailed photos. Their condition is unique, antique and fragile. SOLD AS IS.
