Dean found this gorgeous Macaw at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh, PA. He was sitting across from the bird during an art show when Dean displayed his work there several years ago. He was intriqued by this bird's outgoing personality and decided he would make a drawing of him. Anyone who knows how vibrant these birds are can appreciate Dean's challenge to draw one in black and white. Dean's tremendous sense of tonal value helps us imagine how colorful this bird really is.
