This lady was sure fun to make! It's an old timey sock doll mounted on a whisk broom! I call her extreme prim, but she may be considered more of a historical heritage doll? Also has the look of a prairie doll. This lady is holding her little sock baby in a piece of vintage quilt with Americana stars and stripes fabric. The mother's arms are sewn to the babies blanket so she doesn't drop her!
The doll's head is a dark brown sock stuffed with fiberfil and then tied off at the neckline. The rest of the sock is mounted over a whisk broom with a little hot glue to hold it in place.

Her dress is a very heavy cotton and cheesecloth was used for her apron and headpiece. The apron is tied on the back and the headpiece is stitched at the neckline. Her eyes and mouth are handstitched with embroidery floss. I think she's smiling. Do you see it??? Look close, it's there! She's sooooo happy to be a mommy. I made her a prim hang tag that says, "Early Sock Doll" and it's attached to her dress with a rusty safety pin. The clothing and quilt scrap have been coffee stained. This doll set was made my me and is signed. I used a Primfolks by Judy pattern.
Great gift for Mother's Day!!!
