10 x 8 Oval !
Painted on quality 10 x 8 oval canvas with gallery wrapped sides that are painted black & signed. Mixed media. Lots of work in this piece. The painting was prepared with fine beach sand to obtain a grainy texture, then painted. There are areas where the undercoats & brush strokes may show through which is part of the charm. The edges are lightly antiqued. Background is beautiful aqua blue & blue green colors! The mermaid angel has short curly hair, wears a pearl bodice, pearl bracelet, a pearl choker & a tiny starfish in her hair. Her body is a pretty mauve color, tail is cream & mauve, and her scales are a delicate cream color. She's holding a pretty starfish. Lightly antiqued & varnished to maintain vibrant color. This one is bright & cheerful! Sorry my digital camera is not the best & monitors may vary. The color is closest in the wall picture.
One of a Kind, Whimsical & Original !
You don't see oval paintings often & she is right at home on this one! She's flirty & she looks like an old fashioned 40's girl. Her hair is brown in a bit of a Marilyn Monroe/Bet Midler style & she's dressed up pretty! I had a lot of fun painting this! I hope you enjoy it & have a great day!

I live in Northern California in the heart of Gold Country. My home is just miles from where apples are grown, wine is made & gold was first discovered. I was born in South Carolina & spent my early childhood there before moving to Japan , Arizona & finally California. I still call South Carolina home. My travels add to my varied taste in art. There isn't any style that I don't like! I have enjoyed painting for 37 yrs. I am basically self taught but have studied art on my own & taken classes. I am a member of the American Folk Art Society & Swell Sister Society, a group of women Sacramento artists.
In addition to my love for painting, I am a crafter. I learned to crochet at age 7. I was mesmerized by Japanese sparkly yarn! This was the beginning of a lifetime of crafting! I enjoy crochet, knitting, sewing, embroidery & other needlework, perfume making, cake decorating, wood crafts, clay work & decorative painting.
My art is inspired by sweet things in my life, my loving family , my friends and sometimes by my goofy sense of humor. My life is filled with music, artful things & loving people.
