-This SWEET kitty cat and his little mouse friend just love sunflowers--can't you tell? They're waiting to send some sunshine your way! ---- Hello and welcome to my world of FINE FOLK ART FRIENDS! I started creating these whimsical and fascinating creatures a while back--and now I can't stop! They are created with MUCH artistic detail ( I'm a perfectionist, so they take a looooooong time to paint!) and a LOT of love, and I hope you find them just as fun and wonderful as I do...! OK--first, I start with a simple, unfinished pine wooden shape that I find at the craft store--either a cat, dog, or butterfly--then I come up with an idea, or "theme" for each of them----and then I start painting like crazy! Sometimes I add a little Polymer clay MOUSE (can you see him sitting on the cat's paw?!?), or angel wings, or cat faces and paws for the "catterflys"( a butterfly and cat combination!). They are created with acrylic paints with lots of shimmering GOLD acrylic highlights and glittering CRYSTALS. The result is a truly UNIQUE, one-of-a-kind piece of HIGHLY collectible "fine" folk art!  

AND there are MANY ways to display your new friend--each piece comes with a small sawtooth hanger on the back so you can hang them right on the wall, or put a beautiful ribbon through the hanger and hang it on your holiday tree...You can also place it on a nice little desktop easle, or even set them on a shelf! One more dramatic gallery-like display option is to really show it off by placing it in a nice shadowbox frame with or without matting--lots of choices!

My initials are on the front of each piece, and the title, signature, and year are on the back. Please note--it is a little difficult to get exact true colors on the computer monitors--especially blues and greens--so you will find that when you have the piece in your hands it will look MUCH better than what you see here!

HELLO!  My name is KAREN MCCANTS and I am so pleased to share my art here on eBay. I've been creating art in a variety of mediums for many years, currently I'm working with watercolor and acrylics. I have an extensive art education and my work is collected worldwide.  I worked for many years as a professional stained glass designer, and much of my work is influenced from that time. I love to paint and create more than anything else in the world--and appreciating and painting nature -- be it animals(especially cats!), flowers, figures or landscapes, has always been my artistic focus.
