Francois-Xavier Fabre
"The Death of Able"
1781
Perhaps the greatest source of influence for the pieces this incredible artist painted was the Mythic impulse; here we see the fortold "Death of Able", one of David's most dramatic and moving pieces. As usual, he manages to capture the essence and feeling of the tragedy, as well as the mythic overtones...the dark colours and 'broken' image of Able convey a sense of desolation and 'goodness felled', as he once put it. A striking canvas that will lend a sense of the dramatic and mythic that shows Fabre's incredible grasp of the Male nude and, indeed, the human form. (If you're considering this piece for a gift, we're pleased to ship directly to your recipient at no extra charge.)
Our unframed canvas measures approx. 16 1/2" x 22" [actual image size]. Our hand-applied brushstrokes bring an unparalleled fidelity to the piece, and captures every nuance and detail of the original masterpiece. "Your product is the BEST i've ever seen in reproductions: we own a small gallery, and have dealt with dozens of graphic dealers. No one even comes close to your quality! Do you deal wholesale..." -MG, Miami, FL.

{Please note our feedback: we're proud of our process and quality. We will turn down a commission rather than send out sub-quality work}
Here's the process: after acquiring the image as described in our Giclee process, we print it at 600 dpi on the finest 21 mil. artist-grade canvas, using the finest inks avaliable. Our canvases will last for many, many years under normal lighting conditions, and special care is taken to provide the highest UV protection avaliable.
After drying, the canvas and image are then coated twice with a special UV-resistant lacquer, sealing the image. Then,the entire image is brushstroked by our artists using another clear acrylic lacquer, duplicating as closely as possible the artist's original style and actual strokes. The image is then set to cure for 72 hours before it is ready to frame [if ordered] and ship.
