Original Jordi Longaron "Der Bueffeljaeger (The Buffalo Hunter)" book cover, published in Germany by Bastei 1982, oil paint on heavy cotton illustration paper, 22x14inches. Longaron began his artistic career as a commercial illustrator, which allowed him to make a living with his art, while avoiding any political difficulties in Franco's Spain. His work was so successful that in 1969 the Chicago Tribune and the NY News Syndicate asked him to create a comic strip for them, which he drew for five years. In turn, this weekly publication brought him to the attention of American publishers and he began producing covers and illustrations for them.
In 1975, he held his first one-man fine art exhibition, a sold-out show in Madrid. As a fine art painter Jordi loves several themes: the beauty of the Catalan countryside (which can be seen in his evocative landscapes); the lore of the American southwest, and the sensuousness of a woman's body. His work has been exhibited in the United States since 1995, and he is represented in numerous private collections. Longaron is a master of oil painting, watercolor, and pastels.
