ARTIST: Signed "Francis" or "Frances" (California / Mexico / Spain ??) (Circa 1940s to 1950s Period)

SIZE: 20x13 unframed

MEDIUM: vintage watercolor

CONDITION: Light toning from a previous frame...also a fold can be seen in the photos - located on the right side of the paper which runs along the signature..also a few small holes along the fold. The fold appears to have been done a very long time ago...sold as found.

REF: Beautiful early California watercolor from the 1940s to 50s period - appears to be a listed artist considering the very high quality. Needs further research. Purchased from a Long Beach, California estate (sold several Joane Cromwell paintings and other Calif. artwork). Signed lower right and appears to read, "Francis" or "Frances". Appears to be a scene of Mexico or Spain / Spanish landscape scene - a superb impressionist plein air style landscape scene of a Mexican / Spanish coastal village walkway. The painting also has a slight modern feel to it with striking color and bold impressionist brushwork. A fold can be seen on one side of the painting (see photos) - sold unframed and as found.
