This is a one-of-a-kind, original acrylic on paper, vintage abstract painting. It is reminiscent of the "splatter" painting style made famous by Jackson Pollock.
The painting was executed in 1953 by Napoleon Gorski (b. 1922), a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, who subsequently earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Univesity of Pennsylvania. The painting is not signed or dated. This is #1 of a series of paintings I will be listing which I obtained directly from the artist.
If you are a fan of the 1950s Atomic, Eames, or Mid-Century Modern styles, this painting is for you! Consider bidding on more than one and framing them in a set for a striking art display. This is a great opportunity to decorate with an authentic piece of vintage art.
Please remember that these paintings can be viewed and hung in any direction, not only in the way that I have photographed them.
Measurements: Approximately 19 inches by 25 inches
Condition:
Overall good condition. This painting has slight paper loss on one side (less than 1/2 inch) and a straight tear (about 1/2 inch) in the paper near an edge that looks like it may have been where a staple or hanger once was. Neither of these tears detract from the overall piece, and would be negligible if the piece were to be framed because they are both close to the border edge. There is some overall paper discoloration due to the age of the item. Each painting is sold in "as is" condition.
Please view my other auctions for a selection of more of these fantastic paintings. I will combine shipping for buyers purchasing multiple paintings. Each painting will be shipped FLAT in a Kraft rigid-mailer envelope.
If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them. All items ship from a smoke-free location.
