Description
This is an original hand-colored, copperplate engraving from The Naturalist's Miscellany: or colored figures of natural objects; drawn and described immediately from nature by George Shaw and Frederk P. Nodder. Published in London as a series from 1789-1813. The work was published in 24 volumes illustrating birds, fish, shells, exotic marine life, butterflies, insects, reptiles, etc. All the prints were hand colored using a combination of watercolor and layered gouache and the colors are very beautiful.
Size and Condition
This is plate #403, Amboina Lizard, and the original text is included with the print. The condition is very good with two minor spots on the image and one spot on the left margin. Please examine the photo carefully. The overall size is 5 1/2 x 9."
