Descriptions and Conditions:
 
        Published in 1880,  Johnson’s Household Book of Nature is a massive two volumes 19th century popular book on Animal Kingdom. It contains many interesting descriptions of the animals based upon the writing of eminent naturalists [Audubon, Wallace, Brehm, Wood, and others] of the day. On top of that, it contains 65 very nicely done multiple color chromolithograph plates depicting individual or a group of animals together.

         This very nice chromolithograph print of Jaguar and Cougar is from Plate IX of Carnivora. It is a regular plate with a blank verso. The print is in excellent [i.e., clear image, nice color registration, original margins, no bend, no tear, and slight age toning around the edges of margin] condition. There are some very minor glue stains around the left margin.
