Here is a quality antique engraving print. The print is EX-LIBRIS taken from an Italian book ( L'ILLUSTRAZIONE ITALIANA) that was printed and illustrated in 1884. This is not a copy, it is an actual antique paper print.
Pictured in fine detail in this engraving is "LA SECONDA BATTAGLIA DI TEB, 29 FEBBRAIO. - IL QUADRATO DEL GENERALE GRAHAM CHE AFFRONTA LA PRIMA POSIZIONE DI OSMAN-DIGMA. (DA DOCUMENTI INGLESI). It is a scene of a battle between a European Force with guns (Italian?) versus a force of natives with shields and swords (Ethiopian?). The line of battle has the natives falling casualty in great numbers to the guns. The detail and clarity of this engraving is extraordinary.
This engraving print measures aprox. 14 3/4" wide X 10 1/2" tall. The print is in very good condition with some expected age darkening to the paper to outer edges (it is over 120 hundred years old). The top edge of the print is jagged from removal from its book binding (can be easily straightened out with a good paper trimmer and covered with a proper mat.) There are several tears at the top edge of up to 1/4" to 3/4" each that do not affect the image in the engraving and would be covered with a mat. The image itself is excellent. It is ready for a mat and / or frame. A mat would help to set off the engraving and make the scene "pop".
