Thomas Rowlandson
(1757-1827)

This wonderful print was made about 35 years ago from a hand colored cartoon by Thomas Rowlandson. It shows a nude woman whose wanton propositions is horrifying Satan himself. This image is printed over a ribald poem that describes the action entitled The Devil in a Fright.
Thomas Rowlandson was Great Britain's premier cartoonist and illustrator in the late 18th and early 19th century. While his more "proper" work is frequently published, his erotic or amorous work is seen very infrequently. While often graphic in nature, it is generally wonderfully humorous, as can be seen in this fine example.

This item is printed on very nice heavy stock. The paper size is about 9 1/4 x 12 inches; image size about 4 inches square; blank on the reverse, and highly highly suitable for framing.
