THAI ANGEL BUDDHA AYUTTHAYA PALACE METAL STATUE OLD
Cast Black Metal Thai Angel Buddha statue, palms pressed together in the prayerful
namaskara mudra
and splendidly dressed with brass decoration,
a replica of the angel buddhas in the Ayutthaya Palace in Ayuthaya.
18 inches tall x 6 inches.
This is HOLLOW and heavy; there are no maker's marks.
This was part of an estate collection of Buddhist art and unfortunately, the
owners are deceased so we can't learn more from them about the individual pieces;
this means we can't tell you exactly how old this is or exactly where the original owner bought it,

Ayuthaya was once the majestic and imposing capital of Thailand. Located on a series of islands on the Chao Phraya river,
upstream from where Bangkok is today, its pinnacle of wealth and influence was during the 17th and 18th Centuries,
when foreigners first arrived in Siam. Today its ruins are a popular day trip or overnight river cruise from Bangkok.
A Mudra is a hand gesture with the fingers held in a particular posture. Each mudra symbolizes a
particular constellation of concepts whose ideas are communicated non-verbally via hand gestures held in these various finger postures.
Mudras are meant as powerful evocations for the mind, a sort of visual "10 word telegram" and the concepts they convey represent divine powers.
CONDITION:
By "antique " we mean over 100 years of age.
By "vintage"we mean between 50 and 100 years of age.
This hollow statue is made of matter and it is OLD; it's age is somewhere between
"vintage" and "antique" and it is NOT a new piece.
There are may be some
signs of age and usage , including but not limited to
minor surface scratches , minor surface wear, minor oxidation and some rust,
minuscule possibly invisible chips and or repairs or adjustments,
and / or other irregularities characteristic of and typical of old items.
There may be something we've missed seeing because we aren't
specifically trained to look for it.
We don't know the exact composition of the metal alloys used to make this piece;
we aren't metallurgists and cannot be certain.
This has not been examined microscopically. We have not taken this apart or put it back together,
we've not subtracted anything from it nor added anything to it that was not already there when we got it.
The condition is exactly as shown in the photos; please look at all the photos carefully
