By Robert Towers. Harcourt Brace, New York, 1960. First American Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hard cover. Historical fiction placed in Calcutta after WWII in 1946. Written from a Westerner’s viewpoint of living in a small portion of Indian culture that is trying to free itself from British rule. Book condition is Fine. DJ is Very Good with a spine faded to black and white (see photo). The DJ has shelf wear to the top corners and a ¾” tear on the lower flap crease (see photo). Book is clean and white with sharp corners. No bumps. A first edition is scarce while a fine copy with Tower’s signature is rare. A great collectible.
