You are bidding on a brand new 3.75" full aperature solar filter Thousand Oaks full spectrum (white light) solar filters are made of high quality hand-selected glass, coated with Thousand Oaks exclusive Solar II Plus multicoatings. These metallic coatings are the most durable on the market. They consist of thin layers of vacuum-deposited nickel and chrome on the inside surface of the glass substrate, where they are protected against damage during use. The coatings reject 99.999% of the Sun's entire spectrum of energy from ultraviolet to infrared protecting both your telescope optics and your eyesight.
Each glass filter element is mounted in a polished friction-fit spun aluminum cell with a tall lip that slips over the end of the telescope. This prevents the Sun's heat from building up inside the telescope tube and possibly damaging the components inside, such as warping a plastic light baffle, cracking a thin mirror or lens and your eyes!. The filter cell is held snugly in place by the provided thick self-adhesive felt strip on the inside of the cell lip. If handled with care and common sense, each should last a minimum of 20 years to life.
The Sun appears yellowish-orange through a Thousand Oaks filter, standing out briskly against a black sky. The filter can be used for both visual and photographic observation. Thousand Oaks Type 2+ glass solar filters show only sunspots and convection-cell granulation of the Sun's surface. A higher cost hydrogen-alpha line band filter is needed to see flares, spicules, and solar prominences.
I sell all of Thousand Oaks Optical Products including their Nebula Filters and Hydrogen-Alpha Filter Systems
How to Measure Your Telescope for a Proper Fit
The filter slips over the tube end of your telescope. You must measure the outside diameter (O.D.) of your telescope end. To measure the O.D. use a ruler, tape measurer, or caliper. You want to measure the widest distance across the end of your telescope. To get the O.D. you must measure from the outside of the casing on one side, across the center aperture, to the outside of the casing on the other side. This measurement must just be under the stated above filter ID for a proper fit.
