NEW 72mm Hoya HMC (Hoya Multi-Coated) ND8 Filter

Neutral Density (ND) filters help reduce the amount of light entering the lens, but have no affect on color balance. The ND 8 filter has a filter factor of 3-stops, so you are able to slow down the shutter speed or increase the aperature by 3-stops.

The main uses are:

1. To enable slower shutter speeds so as to emphasize movement, such as waterfalls, clouds, the sea, automobiles, etc.

2. To enable wider aperatures to be used so as to decrease the depth of field, which is very desirable in protraiture or macro work.

3. To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (ie: above ISO400) and allow it to be used outdoors in blight situations.

4. To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which would normally cause over-exposure.

Digital Cameras need Multicoated filters.

Digital camera CCD or CMOS sensors are hightly susceptible to reflections - this stray light can ruin your photographs! Don't risk your valuable photos by using bare-glass filters.
