This is a painting of a pastoral scene by Harry Carmean that truly looks as though it could have been done by Renoir. It is gorgeous when seen in reality. It is on 24 x 20" canvas, is signed and and was done in 1958. It is in good condition overall. This painting marks the transition by Carmean from darker painterly paintings to a smoother manner of working. By 1960 his style became more refined with an overall more realistic appearance - and it was at this time that he began his well known series of paintings depicting the family. (These family paintings and other early paintings can be seen in the book Carmean available in this store). The painting is light and graceful and unabashedly revels in the beauty of the human figure.
