Licorice is the root of Glycyrrhiza glabra, from which a sweet flavor can be extracted. The licorice plant is a legume and native to southern Europe and parts of Asia. Licorice is a natural sweetner with no calories or caffeine. Due to being naturally sweet, licorice is widely used as a flavoring, not only for candy, but also in cough drops, syrups, root beer, herbal tonics, and laxatives. And, of course, licorice finds its way into various herbal teas. Delicious as a stand alone tea, or try blending licorice root with other herbal, black, or green teas. The results are fantastic.
Licorice tea-one of nature’s best offerings.
Licorice Tea is made using Licorice Root which has been cut into sizes suitable for tea and has been sifted to remove excess dust.
Hot Brewing Method: Use 1 heaping teaspoon of licorice root per one cup of boiling water. Steep for 5-7 minutes. Strain if an infuser isn't used.
Cold Brewing Method For One Pitcher: Put 6 heaping teaspoons of licorice root into a 5-6 cup tea pot. Pour boiling water into pot and let steep 5-7 minutes. Strain if an infuser isn't used and pour into pitcher. Add ice or pour over ice into glass. Add some honey, cinnamon and slices of half an orange for a delightful taste.
