*Burretiokentia hapala, common name: Hapala Palm***Limited Supply***
*We finally have this rare beauty available. One of the most beautiful palms in the world. The Hapala Palm is cousin to the gorgeous Tiger Palm(Burretiokentia vieillardii). Both come from the mysterious islands of New Caledonia, home to many of the most sought after true collector plants, many of which will never be available to the public, because of endangered status. Seed only intermittently available and still quite expensive.
*The Hapala Palm features one of the prettiest crowns of feather leaves we have ever seen. Mature plants are characterized by a rich green, glossy ringed trunk. The flowers of this plant are other-worldly(see picture), and the small fruits(seed) look like something out of a candy store . A reasonably fast grower, requiring filtered sun to shade when young, acclimating into sun as the palm matures. These do very well in many areas of Southern California and Florida, and can take temperatures to approx 28F with mild frosts. Mature height will be approx 20-30 feet, with elegant leaves to approx 7 feet in length. Again, these have only recently been introduced to the public, so many areas with potential for growing have not been tested.
*You are bidding on (1) plant, 5-7 inches tall, 3-4 leaves, and a healthy root system.***Limited Supply***

*Once palms arrive, they will benefit from being kept in a 1-3 gallon container, slightly moist, warm, and in a fast draining soil, such as Supersoil, or a quality Cactus-Mix(available at any Home Improvement or local Nursery Supply Center). Any of the following ingredients such as pumice, small bark chips, perlite, wood shavings, vermiculite, and coarse sand can all be used to benefit good drainage. These plants typically favor shade, filtered sun, or morning/late afternoon sun until established(appoximately 3-4 feet or larger), when they can take more sun. These palms should be planted at a soil height where the roots graduate from the base. Whether you are a 'green thumb' or a beginner, these are easy palms to grow, and will beautify your landscape.
*All palms are shipped bare-root, packed with the roots blanketed in moist sphagnum moss and wrapped in bundles surrounded with aluminum foil to ensure the best health for the plants. Shipping is via U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail, shipped on Monday or Tuesday, arriving in 1-3 days.
*If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Or, if you are looking for other palms, rare, unique, or common, let us know as we grow over a 100 species from seed.
