If you don't see it there, contact me through this auction. Specifications Model #: MN100TPA Dimensions: H19"xW25"xD6" Shipping Weight: 20 lbs. Gas Type: Natural Gas Max BTU/hour: 10,000 Heating Area: approx. 300 square feet Control: Thermostat Clearance Requirements: 8" on sides, 2" from floor and 36" from top of unit to the ceiling Blue Flame or Infrared? A blue-flame heater has a visible blue flame in back of a piece of high-temperature ceramic glass. Infrared units, also known as radiant, have 1, 2, 3 or 5 ceramic burner assemblies that glow orange when lit. Both work equally well heating a room and both are more than 99% efficient. The blue-flame units send most of their heat out the air vents at the top in the form of hot air. Infrared units also do this, but part of the heat energy from the burning gas is emitted as infrared rays. These rays travel through the air and heat whatever solid object they hit. So an infrared unit will "feel hotter" if you stand close to it because your skin will be absorbing the infrared rays. Blue-flame units are a little more popular because their thermostats can modulate the heat output. A 20,000 btu blue-flame heater, for example, can produce 20,000 btus of heat, then cycle down to only 9,000 btus as the room temperature approaches the thermostat setting. Thermostat-controlled Infrared models are either on or off. With non-thermostat infrared heaters, you can select how many of the ceramic burners are on or off, which will affect how much heat the unit will produce. Additional Information| Will the unit run if the electricity is off? | Yes. No electricity is required to run this heater. | | Is a blower fan available? | Yes, an optional blower is available for $40. | | How is the unit installed? | The unit comes with a metal bracket that you attach to the wall. Then the heater hangs on the bracket. Hook up the gas line on the bottom and it is ready to operate. An optional Leg Kit is available if you want the unit to be free-standing away from the wall. The kit is $20. | | What is the Warranty? | All Procom heaters and fireplaces come with a 3-year limited parts and labor warranty. | | What about service and parts? | Procom has a tollfree service center in Atlanta that will answer questions about installation, features, etc. They also handle warranty claims and will send out replacement parts. | | Are these legal in all states? | Most states now allow the use of vent-free heaters. California has legalized them but not yet written the codes that will govern their use, so they cannot legally be installed in California yet. Minnesota, Wisconsin and parts of Massachusettes have restrictions. There may be other states with restrictions that I don't know about. Call your county building inspector or a local gas company to find out the law in your area. |
Frequently Asked Questions about Vent-free Many people are unfamiliar with ventfree gas products, so I've put together a document that addresses many of the questions I've been asked. Check it out before purchasing, so you will be a better-educated buyer. www.stpaulmercantile.com/ventfreeFAQ.htm What Size Heater/Fireplace Do I Need? A general rule of thumb is that you need 3-4 btus for every cubic foot of space you want to heat. So if you have a 400 square feet area with 8 foot ceilings, for example, you would multiply 400 * 8 * (3 or 4) and that would be 9,600 to 12,800 btus. Now this assumes that you have a well-insulated area, a normal number of windows and doors, etc. This doesn't mean that you couldn't put a 30,000 btu or 40,000 btu fireplace in the room. Many of the larger-btu fireplaces have a variable range of heat output. So if you oversize the heater a little, it will heat up the room faster, then either decrease the heat output or shut itself off. But do use some common sense. A 40,000 btu fireplace in a 12' by 16' office is way too much heat. Plus, you won't be able to enjoy the fire, because it will be off 99% of the time. Bedrooms - note that most states, if not all states, have codes that restrict you to 10,000 btus in a bedroom and 6,000 btus in a bathroom. Even if your bedroom is 800 square feet, the maximum legal size is 10,000 btus. Check with your local building inspector. Trust I am a Powerseller with 3,000 feedbacks.
