Nice assorted lot of vintage folder Christmas cards from the 1940s-50s or so. 9 of the cards are Christmas cards from husband to wife. Some are dated: 1941, 1943, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1953, but the other 3 that are undated date from this era as well. To Edna From Ned. Makers are 3 Rust Craft, including a bell motif by Marjorie B. Harker, a member of the Rust Craft Artists' Guild, Gibson, Hawthorne House, 2 Norcross, Gartner and Bender, The Pollyanna Line. Motifs are bells, pointsettias, Christmas Tree with little gift windows to open, candles and ornaments. The one with bells opens to reveal bells inside that lift up with little messages underneath. Add-ons are an applied ribbon bow, a puffy satin pointsettia, glitter snow, and a silver foil insert. Then there are three complete folder cards showing candles, Season's Greetings in the shape of a book, and A Christmas Prayer by Marian Heath of Sudbury Mass. The candle card is dated 1957. Then there are 8 cards whose fronts are intact, but whose backs have been cut--some more than others. Some are totally missing the inside or the backs, some just have the area where they were signed cut out. Makers include Stanley Greetings and Hallmark. (The snowman is the Hallmark, but this one only has the front and one blank piece.) One card has a red flocked present on the front with a kitten inside. I think something is missing as part of the verse is revealed and probably should have been covered up with another layer. Other motifs include a stagecoach traveling through a snowy landscape, embossed gold holly, embossed green/red berries holly, another horsedrawn stagecoach with horses, candle and pinecones, and a lovely vintage interior showing a fireplace, comfortable chair and pointsettias. All are clean and overall in decent condition (except as noted above with 8 of them, but most have varying degrees of age bronzing, which is inevitable with paper as old as this. The most noticeable is to the wife pointsettia card with the fabric insert. Looks like that has bled through to front and inside and left dark staining. Nice mix of retro Christmas cards. I have some other vintage Christmas cards on eBay this week, so please have a look. I do combine postage, but must charge a handling fee for each additional item added to the package to help defray expenses. These are bulky, so will be shipped Priority. All are shown in the photos individually, except for one of the wife cards w/the foil insert, candles and ornaments. This can be seen in the first lot photo as the card to the bottom left. This is a great lot of cards, very evocative of simple Christmas seasons gone by.
**P&H includes a handling fee to help defray the cost of doing business with eBay and PayPal.**
