While the real one is 5000+ years old and heralds from the dawn of man, this one's of quite recent construction... made from real marble, and imported from India.
No two are quite alike, a good thing if it's for a gift.
Stonehenge, of course, is one of the most famous prehistoric monument sites in the world (near Salisbury, England), and its incredible construction spanned all the way from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age.

Great grand mysteries surround the actual site, not the least of which is how 4 to 6 ton rocks were moved into place with construction technology not available till the 20th century... a perplexing dilemma indeed for archeologists.
Also not known with any certainty is whether it was an observatory, a Druid religious site, or for that matter a supernaturally erected monument (as good a guess as any .... maybe aliens erected it, or my ancestors, same thing).
Legends abound, with tales of Merlin's involvement, and a race of giants having moved the stones from Africa.

Interesting stuff I'm just finding out about marble:
Marble is a metamorphic rock resulting from metamorphism of sedimentary carbonate rocks, either limestone or dolostone.
This process causes a total recrystallization into a blend of various crystals. Any fossils are destroyed due to the high temperatures and pressures.
The swirls and veins of colored marble varieties are due to mineral content, such as clay, silt, sand, iron oxides, or chert, which existed in the soil of the country of origin.

Size: 4.0 inches high. Base is about 4.5 inches wide X 5.0 inches on the longer dimension (or roughly about the size of a coffee mug).
The size is perfect, actually, as it takes up very little real estate on your desktop or coffee table.
The only things missing (and I regret this, due to shipping constraints) are primordial mists and dancing virgins (which you can likely find in a quick online search...that's where I get mine).
