I.) This "VIOLIN SHEET MUSIC CD 1" CONTAINS PRINTABLE SHEET MUSIC FOR OVER 600 PIECES--about 4000 pages--FOR VIOLIN ALONE OR IN ENSEMBLE WITH PIANO AND/OR WITH OTHER STRINGS. SEE THE LIST BELOW. The cd presents a great many shorter pieces suitable for teaching as well as works of famous composers, arrangers and violinists like Cesar Cui, Misha Elman, (for Kreisler, see my Kreisler sheet music cd on ebay), Lehmann, Ferdinand David, Eugene Ysaye, Vivaldi, etc. It also includes many pieces previously unavailable, such as the TOMMASINI Duo Concertante in Eb for 2 vns, including pieces typeset by JDH. Priority for inclusion was given to material not available elsewhere. THE CD IS FULL! FOR SAMPLE PAGES, GO HERE AND HERE! II.) The sources for the present cd include: items from my library; items from many other libraries, including interlibrary loan; items from colleagues; and items downloaded from several sites, including the Library of Congress, Creative Commons sources, Mutopia, Werner Icking, but most importantly the University of Rochester's Sibley Library at https://urresearch.rochester.edu . (With one or two exceptions, every page from the Rochester/Sibley Library files was reworked.) A disadvantage with the Mutopia and Icking offerings is the often poor layout resulting in very inconvenient page turns. The Icking scores are usually for noncommercial use, and those are not included on my cd. However, urtext--unedited--editions of previously published works are generally public domain in the USA, no matter the non-commercial designation. If you are a publisher and disagree with my judgment, let me know. Besides the high number of pieces that were individually located, scanned and/or improved by me, I must acknowledge the inclusion of some files, e.g., Vivaldi's Four Seasons, that were placed on the internet without restrictions by others, and that were not modified by me. My thanks to the creators of those files. III.) With the present cd, many, if not most, of the pieces were individually scanned from original sources; all were reduced to letter-size (often requiring some repositioning of items on a page), very often straightened (even parts of pages), cleaned--many were very dirty--and most content has been centered on the page to facilitate enlargement. Cover pages (often very beautiful) have often been preserved (if missing, then substitutes provided) so that all pieces or collections are ready for 2-sided printing when practicable. Occasionally, corrections have been made to the music when misprints were noticed! All files are given in pdf format. IV.) NB: ANY ERRORS (POSSIBLE WITH AN EFFORT THIS LARGE) WHEN FOUND WILL BE CORRECTED BY POSTING THE CORRECTED FILE AT MY WEBSITE, HTTP://WWW.CLASSICALTRIO.COM . V.) THE PURPOSE OF THIS CD IS TO PROVIDE THE PURCHASER WITH UNRESTRICTED USE OF THE MUSIC. NB: EXCEPT FOR BACKUP COPIES, DUPLICATION OF THE CD FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES IS A VIOLATION OF MY COPYRIGHT. VI.) ALL OF THE MUSIC IS BELIEVED TO BE IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN; (THE DIGITAL MEDIUM IS NO MORE COPYRIGHTED THAN IS THE PAPER OF A PRINTED EDITION.) I hope the purchaser will appreciate the effort involved. Also observe that, through minor editing, I could slap a copyright notice on EVERY PIECE and it would be up to you to determine what it was that I added for you to avoid infringement. This publishing trick has been used, for example, by Carl Fischer Inc. to place new copyrights--even performing rights!!!--on Kreisler even though the editor, Eric Wen, added only a few unnecessary fingerings to each piece. --The contents of my Kreisler cd--90 pieces plus an operetta--has no copyright restrictions on the music and I claim none.-- ALL I ASK OF THE PURCHASER OF MY CDs IS TO ALLOW ME TO BENEFIT FINANCIALLY IN A SMALL WAY FROM MY EXTENSIVE LABORS. I ALSO INVITE OTHERS, ESPECIALLY IN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES WHOSE VIOLIN MUSIC MAY BE LESS AVAILABLE IN THE USA, TO UNDERTAKE SIMILAR PROJECTS. Thank you, John D. Howard, aka FootePaine on eBay.
