Paul Osipow, Retrospective Exhibition
1993, Museum of Contemporary Art, Helsinki
Appears to be written in Swedish (or Finnish?), but with an English translation. Softcover, 127 pages, with several dozen color plates.
Includes several essays, including A Paradise View, Beneath the Painted Surface – Paul Osipow & a Life, The Emancipation of the Grid, and The Story of Shallow Space. Also has in the back a lengthy timeline and B&W photo of the artist.
Osipow has been an active influence on the visual arts in Finland since the 1960’s. Many of his works have ended up in foreign collections, without ever being seen by the Finnish and Nordic art public. Osipow sees the painter as both a craftsman and a poet. He does not want to link his own art to any particular statements. He was known as a Finnish landscape painter
