Teach Your Toddler to Swim! Perfect for "around" 2 Year Olds, Size Medium

I have taught swimming lessons for over 25 years, and this is the Trainer I use for children when they're around 2-3 years old. I love it because it is so supportive, the child relaxes as we work on the various skills involved in learning to swim because they're not afraid of sinking. When this fear is removed, children are willing to take a risk and go beyond their comfort level in learning a new technique. This particular "Swimmer" (that's what Miss Sara calls them) has individual floats inserted in a stiched pocket. It is fine to wear a diaper with it. The floats should be removed as the child learns to swim, starting with the floats in front. The floats on the back are the last to come out, and what a day that is! But in the mean time, I tell Mom, let them wear their Swimmers, they'll save you from having a heart attack, the child gets stronger, learns how to move around, they can play in the deeper water with the other kids, it is well worth it. Peer pressure will get to them and they'll want to get out of their "Swimmers" to be like the big kids. I live in SW Florida, and almost every house has a pool here, or a community pool. All birthday parties are pool parties, it is the lifestyle here. Let them wear their Swimmers and have some fun while learning at the same time. And if someone disagrees with this philosophy, you can say, well Miss Sara said it was a good thing!
I am revising this description for the Summer of 2008 for the following reasons. I am writing this in April of 2008 when once again, a mother brought her 2 year old over for swimming lessons, I brought this trainer out for her to view and hopefully purchase for her child, and she said she'd rather get a "better one at Target, she saw some nice ones there". Fast forward to week 2 of swimming lessons, she brings in her 2 year old and 3 other suits like this, famous maker brands, and none of them fit, or have inflatable floats (that puncture) or it provided poor flotation. So again, I watched another mom spend around $75.00 at the store buying bright colors and plastic and ignoring my recommendation that this is a great swim trainer for "around 2 year olds". It stretches if the child is on the large side, it is tight elastic if the child is on the small side. As an instructor I love this trainer because it has the hard foam inserts all the way around the torso so I can adjust it anywhere to any degree that I see the need in just a few seconds. Any way you look at it, this is a great swim trainer. Even when moms don't buy anything for their child to practise in at home, I have one of these in my "basket of tricks" out at the pool, and the first thing we do is put it on over the child's swim suit. It is well made. I've used this item for 4 years now and know it well. You can put this on your child and virtually throw them in the pool, and they'll be doggie paddling in 5 minutes. I taught swimming lessons today, can you tell? I put my whole heart into it.
