This is the premier synthetic dye used by many fiber artists throughout the world.  This is Gaywool Dye's Bush Blends, which come in crystal form for ease and safety in mixing and dyeing.   The Bush Blends are the more natural and subdued colors of nature, and you're going to get a more pastel effect from them than from the Original Gaywool Dyes The crystals won't get up your nose or into the atmosphere as easily as powders tend to.  This is a 80 gram container of Bush Blend Dye, the official word is that it's sufficient to dye about 600 grams of fiber which, at 3.5 ounces per 100 grams, translates to a little bit under 2 pounds of wool or other protein fiber (any animal fiber or animal yarns will dye nicely with this dye). 

I generally use about a capful per pound, and I usually get 3-4 pounds worth of dyed wool out of each container, depending on the deepness I'm looking for.  The color picture is right off the Manufacter's website, but you'll find that you get variation depending on your technique and the amount of dye and water used.  Dyeing clean fleece before carding can give you a more variegated effect, dyeing fiber that's carded or combed can give you a more solid effect.  I also use this dye for hand painted rovings and yarns.  Everything is included in this dye, both color and mordant.  I generally use a little vinegar for added insurance, but the company (Louet) says that's not even necessary.  Instructions come with the dye for both cold water and hot water dyeing, but please use your resources (check out our selection of dyeing books) and your own best judgement.  Colors are approximate, due to variations in cameras, computers, and monitors.
